As we were planning our trip to Kauai, Hawaii, we were trying to figure out what to do about transportation. As a native New Yorker, I am in love with checking out public transportation in different cities when I travel, however, that was not an option so we knew we had to rent a car.
Both Karli and I are not a huge fan of the hassle of renting a car through traditional car rental companies. The wait in the line at the service desk, paying for a car when you don't even know potential piece of crap you're getting - ya know that feeling. We just wanted nothing to do with it.
Booking through Turo was fun, and it was actually kind of like car shopping. You're able to go onto their website, enter the area you'll be in and see what cars are available.
Since we were looking in Hawaii, naturally there were a TON of Jeeps and we were like kids in a candy store trying to pick which one we thought was the best. This was hard to do considering there were so many, but we definitely picked out the G.O.A.T. 🙌🏽
We picked out 2015 lifted Wrangler (because, Hawaii, duh).
The booking process was weirdly fun. It's like car shopping on airbnb. After you book the car, the owner contacts you to set up the drop off of the vehicle and is available to answer any additional questions / concerns.
The owner of the car we rented was so much fun. Once we landed on the Island, he made the process easy with step by step directions of pick up, how to get the keys out of the lockbox, and he even left us cash for the parking fee at the airport. THANKS, DUDE!
The entire experience was buzz worthy using Turo and having the Jeep allowed us to explore Kauai and see places we could never imagine actually existed. No matter where we travel to next, we will definitely continue to use the Turo app to book our cars - ✌🏽out Enterprise
